Home page of this website (http://www.mahesha.com/) used to be a WordPress blog, called i think so…. I found that I was seldom updating it. Whenever I did, it was mostly technology related – something I could very easily include in this blog.
So, I am retiring i think so…. In its place, the home page of this website will just be a launch pad for the rest of the stuff here.
I’ve kept a frozen copy of the blog, just in case…
You might be wondering; you did type www-dot-mahesha-dot-com – or followed a bookmarked link to it – how on earth did you reach this blog? Don’t worry, you are in the right place…
Over the last week I changed the mahesha.com homepage to what used to be blog.mahesha.com. The old home page was increasingly looking like a blog with every update and it was getting hard to maintain it in its format. The natural choice was to move to an actual blog!
The link to photo albums on this site has also changed. Photo albums now use a simpler look that matches with this blog.
If you haven’t noticed already, there’s this Random pick section in the sidebar – on the right portion of the main page. It randomly picks a photo from all the albums online and displays it. If you click on it, it will take you to the album it belongs to. If you stick around for more than 30 seconds, it will refresh the picture with another random pick! This feature is not very well tested with Internet Explorer – if you spot any display errors, let me know.
Another good thing about moving to a blog is that if you have comments on anything – preferably anything on this site, now you can post them. Click on the heading of a post you want to comment on. Then go to the bottom of the page and use the comment area to post a comment. The comments are moderated – so they won’t show up on the site unless I approve.
Hopefully this transition will help me post updates more frequently than lately!
Until next time…
After switching to WordPress I was trying to get custom theme going for my blog, instead of using the WordPress default theme.
I finally got down to getting one online yesterday. The new theme MMA Watch is remotely based on the default WordPress theme. Moreover I’ve set it up so that I can periodically change the header image to share one of the better photographs I keep taking every now-and-then.
If I manage to accumulate a collection of such photographs, I wish to make a random selection of the header image. Every visit, you’ll see a different theme!
I have a small utility that runs on my computer that monitors the number of visits to my website – mahesha.com, and it reports if there was a new hit.
Well today, it reached a milestone! mahesha.com had its 500th visitor!
This count is since the middle of last year – from what I remember. I gotta do something to attract more visitors
For the more curious, whenever you visit www.mahesha.com, a program on the site counts the visit, then it stores a cookie on your machine as a marker that your visit has already been counted. The cookie sticks around for about 12 hours. The program counts your visit only if there is no cookie that it left. So if you visit the site again within 12 hours, you are a returning visitor, not a new visitor.
I am reorganizing my website. As a part of this effort, I changed the location to this blog. The URL to this blog has changed from:
Consequently, the location of live feed of the blog is now,
If you reached here, you probably have noticed this change! But you might need to update bookmarks, if you have any.
The old location will still have posts, but will not be updated. I may totally clean the old location in very near future.
Mahesha.com now provides Live Bookmarks!
If you don’t know what live bookmarks are, you are probably not using Mozilla Firefox browser – which, by the way, you should try!
You can read all about Live Bookmarks, and other cool features of Firefox on its home page.
Once you have the Fox, use icon at the botton-right corner of the browser window to add a Live Bookmark on mahesha.com. Currently the only Live Bookmark published if for Albums @ mahesha.com.
Hope you like this addition!
If you did not take that route, this blog is linked from the create page on my website. Here’s the link to that page.
